Maria Montessori (1870-1952), best known for her teaching methods in the early years of schooling - through her "Children's Houses", the first of which was founded in Rome in 1907 - was also interested in the child's first relationships with his or her family. This is a very sensitive issue today, when many parents no longer know how to relate to their children in a way that reconciles respect and authority. This book brings together the unpublished texts of a series of lectures given in Brussels in 1923 on this theme. In her own way, Maria Montessori offers a guide for parents and educators, to avoid any misunderstanding or temptation to authoritarianism.
